Loose ends are all that I have, threads of ideas searching to cohere. Those threads include feminist theory, queer theory, racism, sexism, heterosexism, religion, and culture.
Feminist and queer theories are new lenses through which I want to view and review other topics. The single strand through all of these topics is my life, my unique set of experiences that bring me to the doctoral quest. In weaving the threads, I will also weave myself for the final push to accomplishment.
When I told her about some of my experiences, Rachel said she would like to see my timeline. It's an interesting idea. Perhaps I need to see my timeline. Somehow the track of my history is essential information for where I am headed.
Racism, sexism, heterosexism, are all tied together in an unfortunate ball of hate toward others. Perhaps for some, hate is too strong a word, as they may be ignorant of their thoughtless words and acts. Sometimes ignorance can be repaired through education. Sometimes it becomes intractable resistance toward self-examination and honesty.
Religion and its claim to "rightness" is among the most deadly of commitments, when a believer loses the capability to reason about religion within the context of the real world. Believers can do great damage in the name of God.
Culture is our milieu, our petrie dish. To look forward, to consider what culture can be grown, requires careful thought and strategy. Although I have considered myself to be somewhat of a misfit with the focus on curriculum for my program, perhaps after all, it is the place where I belong.

A Cozy Chair
Chromatic margins are half-steps toward...something. Color-tinged moments that cross the boundaries of routine, tradition, privilege. The encounter with chromatic margins offers change, discomfort. To travel across such margins into the unfamiliar is to learn. I have traveled, and I choose to tell of it. I choose to tell of it, because the journey is richer when shared. I choose to write.
Come with me.
